Design

When I was 14 years old, I somehow managed to get my hands on a copy of Photoshop. It was my first taste of what would eventually become central to my career: design. What started out as a hobby became a mindset, and by the time I was in college I knew what I wanted to do.

I believe that good basic design principles can be re-applied to any medium, so it felt natural for me to branch out into photography, audio, and web development, but I've always felt my roots were in design.

Ads

When it comes to creative design, print ads were my first love. Although my attention eventually turned to the web, and I began spending a lot of time learning code and designing in RGB, it's always refreshing to develop a print design.

Signs

After graduating college my first job was in a sign shop. I did a little design work, and a lot of production. It wasn't the most glamorous work I've ever had, but it gave me some great insight into what makes a sign something that you actually slow down to read.

When I was hired at WPC, part of my edge over the other candidates was that I had a working knowledge of sign production.
