Experience

In my current position I do a lot of hands on work, but I also am asked to provide creative direction and head the development for communications strategies and ad campaigns, as well as lead and manage a network of staff that form a web committee. I feel that project management is as much a collaborative effort as it is one of oversight.

Here are some examples of the most recent collaborative projects I've worked on. I've had a hand in each of these, handling anything from user interface and designing to creative direction, branding and project management.

Fallingwater, as Wright Intended

This is one of the web projects that I worked on in support of Fallingwater's 75th Anniversary. Not many people realize that Edgar Kaufmann had a great deal of influence over the final look of the house. An intern at Fallingwater worked with staff to develop renderings that represent how Fallingwater would have looked like if Frank Lloyd Wright had complete control over the final outcome. My job was to take these renderings and develop a user interface with which web visitors could compare and contrast the different views. The end result is a unique photo viewer that allows the visitor to choose which room they'd like to explore, switch between multiple views, and zoom in to view the details.

WPC's Conserve and Annual Reports

Part of my role at the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is brand management and creative direction. When I'm not creating the design of a project myself, my role consists of creative direction, brand management, photography and handling some critical tasks personally (like a cover shot that needs a Photoshop job.)

I often act as the "point person" for an outsourced designer to help make sure new designs are consistent with our brand identity and ensure that the new style suits WPC management's tastes. Examples include Conserve, WPC's tri-annual publication, and the Annual Reports.

Fallingwater Membership Video

At the end of each tour at Fallingwater, guests are asked to join the tour guides and learn more about the organization that makes the conservation of the house possible: Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. The last video was getting pretty outdated, and a fresh video needed to be developed. We contacted New Perspective, with whom I worked directly with for several months, providing plenty of photography, scripting, brand management, project management and creative direction, both on and off-site. The end result is a perfect reflection of the brand and message of the Conservancy and Fallingwater.
